About TileHound

TileHound helps you find words from the letters you know. It is built for word-game players: people working through a daily Wordle, looking for a Scrabble play, or stuck on a crossword clue.

How it works

Every search runs in your browser. When you open a tool, it loads a word list for that length, and your clues filter it instantly as you type. Nothing you type is sent to a server.

The word list

Words come from ENABLE, a public-domain list of English words that most word games accept. We remove offensive words. Game dictionaries differ, so a game may occasionally reject a listed word or accept one that is missing.

Ranking

"Best guess" sorting scores each word by how common its letters are among the words still possible, counting each letter once and giving extra weight to letters in their most common positions. It is a simple, transparent rule, not a guarantee of the daily answer.
